Kiama Little Athletics 2010-2011 season came to a conclusion last Friday evening with the annual presentation held at Kiama Leagues Club.  The Centre’s highest accolade, the Dean Blair Memorial Trophy, was awarded to Under 6 athlete Jasper Arnold.  In second place was Matthew Cordell (Under 8) with third place going to Ella Patterson (Under Under 8).

Charlotte Bett (Under 9) was the recipient of the Coaches Award for the most improved athlete.

The Centre would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make this season such a success.  The Committee recognises the fact that without you, our club could not function.  We trust that you and your children enjoyed the season and hope to see you back again in September 2011.

Don't forget the Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 6th April at Kiama Leagues Club commencing at 7.30pm.  Little Athletics, more than any other sporting code, relies on volunteers.  Please consider giving some of your time to keep this Centre “running”.
Annual General Meeting
06-04-2011
The 32nd Kiama Little Athletics AGM was held on Wednesday 6th April.  The majority of the previous Executive stood for re-election resulting in few changes to the Committee for the 2011-12 season.

The Centre would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing Treasurer, Michael Waldie, for his committment and dedication over the last few seasons.

Unfortunately we were unable to fill the positions of Publiity Officer and Canteen Co-ordinator.  As such we welcome nominations for these roles.

Change In Coaching Days
08-09-2011
Unfortunately our coach has informed us that he is no longer available on the days advertised in the Centre Handbook.  As a consequence coaching sessions will now be conducted on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.   The Centre apologises for any inconvenience this change has or will cause.

Kiama Little Athletics 2011-12 season kicked off  last Saturday on a cold and windy morning.

It was terrific to see so many new faces joining Little Athletics for the first time.  Athletes from Tiny Tots right through to the U/17 Age Group enjoyed the mornings events.

Saturday was the first of three "Orientation Days" that are designed to give athletes and parents the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the various events. They also give the parent helpers a chance to learn how to measure, record and assist at events.

It's not too late to join in the fun and bring your kids along.  Registrations are still being taken on Saturday mornings from 8:30am at the Kiama Sporting Complex.  Uniforms can also be purchased at this time.
First Orientation Day Completed
10-09-2011
Last Saturday saw the third and final Orientation Day successfully completed.  Athletes and parents have now had the opportunity to experience all the events offered in the three (3) week rotating program.  In doing so those that are new to the Centre have also become familiar with, not only the events, but the manner in which club meets are run.

The Centre has in excess of 200 athletes registered for the sixth successive season.  In fact registrations now exceed 250 for the first time in the Centre's 34 year history.  Registrations are still being taken so if you are interested in joining come down this Saturday around 8:30am.

Point score competition commences next week so make sure you are there at 9:00am sharp so we can get away on time.  Don't forget that the aim of the Centre’s point score is to encourage all athletes to improve their own personal best efforts.  It does not award points for winning but for improving.

As of the 21st of October competition moves to 5:30pm Friday afternoon.  Light may be an issue for the next few weeks so it is important that we get started on time.  See you this Friday!

Kiama Little Athletics 2011-12 season just keeps on getting bigger!

The Centre currently has 275 athletes registered.  This is the highest number in our 34 year history.
We were a little concerned that the move to Friday afternoon competition might be a challenge due to the large numbers and lack of lighting.  But, thanks to our dedicated band of helpers, competition has been running smoothly.

The Centre would like to thank those people that recently volunteered to assist with data entry.  Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

A reminder that entries are now being taken for the Zone Championships in December.  Download the entry form

No Little Athletics Friday 17th February
13-02-2012
A reminder that due to the Region 5 Championships there will be no Little Athletics on Friday 17th February.  This is a scheduled break that was published in the Calendar Of Events in the Centre Handbook.

The Region 5 Championships are being held at the Kiama Sporting Complex and we will be preparing the venue on Friday.  It is most unfortunate that this break comes on top of the recent, unprecedented washouts, but under the circumstances it is not possible to run competition on this evening.

If you are available please come and give us a hand over the weekend.
